Favorite Splash Pads Around Denver

Summer vacation is almost over and I am NOT ready ! With just a week left before my son starts kindergarten, we are squeezing in all the summer things. But summer is not over people! We still have three weeks left of summer fun. The Denver area has some really great splash pads and the best part is that they are FREE! Pack a picnic lunch, don’t forget that sunscreen, and spend a day at one of these splashpads around Denver. (Most splash pads close Labor Day weekend)

Peter Pan Park

This was Liam only 1 year old!

This Westminster park is perfect for free water fun for toddlers. The low stream of water and splash pad are just the cherry on top of this very unique park. With “Big Ben”, the London Bridge and a big pirate ship to climb on, this park is usually quite popular, but definitely worth it.  4801 W. 92nd Ave Westminster

Wynkoop Plaza Fountain

The splash pad at Union Station is perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Grab brunch at Snooze and then let the kids burn off some energy and run through this large spray pad. And to really get all the summer vibes, get an ice cream cone from Milkbox Ice Creamery . Wynkoop St. between 16th St. and 17th St.

E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park

Though this splash pad is a bit smaller than the others, this park is still one of our favorites because there is so much to do. There are two playgrounds, one for toddlers and one for older children. A skatepark, fishing, pedal boat and kayak rentals, plus a snack cart that sits near the entrance so you can grab some chips or a popsicle. With 28 acres to let the kids run, this park is a great place to let them burn off some energy.  They also have a summer movies series and free summer concerts. 11701 Community Center Dr, Northglenn

Orchard Town Center

This outdoor mall is a great way to get some back-to-school clothes shopping in while also having fun! With a small playground and a splash pad, this is the perfect opportunity to bribe your children. Just kidding. Not really. They also have a Farmers Market on Sundays 9am-2PM and Free concerts Fridays and Saturdays 6-8PM. A Kiddie Train that goes around the mall is a kid favorite and tickets are only $2 a person. Northwest corner of I-25 and 144th Avenue in Westminster, CO

Ralston Central Park and Splashpad

One of our favorite parks, Ralston has walking paths, two nature-inspired playgrounds, a large spray park, a sand volleyball pit, and a large covered picnic pavilion with plenty of tables. 5850 Garrison Street Arvada

Centennial Center Park

This park is a bit of a cruise for us from Northglenn, but So much fun! This award-winning park has a an interactive splash pad, several areas for the kids to climb and explore, and a really popular slide that looks like it is built into the rock.  13050 E Peakview Ave, Centennial

Discovery Park Discovery Skate Park

After doing some shopping on Tennyson street, we love to head over to Discovery Park. This park has a climbing wall, picnic tables, a play creek, playground, skate park, and a Splash Pad! Bring san toys because there is a wet sand play area, too.  3701 Johnson St. (W. 38th Ave. & Kipling St.) Wheat Ridge

Have you ever heard of a nursing strike ? I had no Have you ever heard of a nursing strike ? I had not until I experienced this with Theo the past 2 days 😩 He refused to nurse for over 40 hours and I have been an absolute mess. He would be screaming one minute, happy as a clam the next. Waking up at 4 AM and not napping all day & would push me away and scream every time I tried to nurse him. I was in so much pain and beyond engorged. I tried pumping every few hours and the first day that worked just fine but then today my milk just would not let down and it took 45 minutes to get just over 2 ounces of milk! Last night he did finally take a bit from a sippy cup of my milk and was eating purees and snacks like normal, but just would not nurse. I called his Dr. yesterday and she had no idea what it could be. I was afraid I was going to get mastitis or that my milk would dry up or that there was something really seriously wrong with me or with Theo. I was texting my best friend just utterly exhausted and frustrated and at my wits end.
Then around 2:00 just 15 minutes after I texted her to vent, I tried ONE more time to nurse him and he nursed!! I cried happy tears and thanked Jesus over and over.
I never got to breastfeed my first, so this has been an all new journey with Theo. Lately nursing seemed to be getting more difficult and I was getting a bit burnt out with it- being the only one that can feed him and that he still wakes 3+ times a night to nurse... but I will never take it for granted again. What a blessing it is to be able to nurse. I am so tired I could cry again just typing this out😭
After trying EVERYTHING it suggested to do online, he finally nursed and I can breathe again. I have no idea what was wrong, but he's nursing again normally and took nice long nap this afternoon 🙏
Anyone experience anything like this before ?
